CHINESE'S STUDY ABROAD

CHINA'S STUDY ABROAD

During the 2018 Summer, I traveled to Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Anhui, and Yiwu in search of business, culture experience, & language immersion. Studying Mandarin for 2 months in Zhejiang University of Science and Technology at Hangzhou taught me countless lessons. I was able to see the world from a different perspective, through local and native eyes. My Hanzi and conversational skills improved astonishingly. I lived with a Chinese family during that time where I learned how they interacted, how they respected, & how they lived.

REFLECTION

After having to go through a rough past, being forced to leave Colombia by force for my family's own safety was not something easy. My parents starting from zero in America was harsh and hard but this was a great learning experience.

Growing up in America made me who I am today. Watching my hard-working parents progress inspired me to never give up. I began the school system in ESOL and quickly escalated the latter to "advance", "gifted", and 'Cambridge" as I was determined to make my parents proud.

Thankfully, I was able to enter FIU and due to the Global Medallion guidelines, I was able to focus on my career and know what path to take. I decided to focus on Mandarin and International Business due to my experience in logistics. I am thankful to this program as I feel prepared to be Worlds Ahead and compete with the market workforce.

My goal is to become the U.S. Trade Representative after working at the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Trade.
